The BC Construction Safety Alliance’s Peer Support Recovery Navigator (PSRN) Program is reshaping how our industry supports workers facing substance use challenges.
On October 3, ten members of BC’s construction industry completed the inaugural PSRN training — a pioneering initiative developed with Dr. Paul Farnan. This program empowers workers with lived or learned experience of recovery to provide early, confidential, peer-based support to their colleagues before challenges escalate into safety risks or lost time.
“We’ve often heard that we should be the solution we’re seeking,” says Mike McKenna, BCCSA Executive Director. “This program fills a critical support gap for workers while improving workplace safety.”
The PSRN training combines real-life scenarios, research-based methods, and a growing community network to create recovery-informed workplaces built on compassion, understanding, and connection.
Congratulations to the first PSRN graduates from Marine Roofing Group of Companies, Ledcor, and other participating employers — paving the way toward a healthier, more supportive construction culture.
